Bridgeport Hospice Care

Finding the right Bridgeport assisted living facility (ALF) is important so we’ve gathered information and tips to get you started.

The overall cost of living in Syracuse is 15% higher than the U.S. average. According to a Genworth Financial survey, a one-bedroom in a Bridgeport assisted living facility averages $5,953 a month. A private room in a nursing home averages $13,855 month, while a semi-private averages $12,973. A home health aide averages $4,481 a month and homemaker services (cooking, running errands, etc.) average $3,766.

Finding places to relax and enjoy nature won’t be a problem in the “Park City” with its 1,300 acres of public space. Two of its parks—Seaside and Beardsley—were designed by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olsmsted, the designer of NYC’s Central Park. The 325-acre Seaside Park, designed just after the Civil War, features 3 miles of coastline, shaded glades, and manicured lawns. In addition, the Department of Parks and Recreation sponsors senior activities such as casino trips, field trips to NYC, picnics and more.

Bridgeport’s cultural scene will not disappoint especially when you have the likes of PT Barnum as a native son. Visit the Barnum Museum to see not only the impresario’s personality come to life but also Bridgeport’s industrial and social past. Included in the permanent collection is a 4,000-year-old Egyptian mummy named Pa-Ib. The impressive Discovery Museum and Planetarium with its Challenger Center contains over 100 hands-on exhibits as well as art exhibits featuring local, regional and national artists.
